FAQs

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What are the power requirements for all of your saunas?

Please refer to the "Manuals & Spec Sheets" section for full electrical specifications of each model.
A quick reference sheet can be found here: Sauna electrical requirements

How much will it cost to operate my sauna?

On average, it is approximatly ¢0.56/kwh at the highest rates and ¢0.25/kwh in the USA.

However, the national average in cents per kwh ranges between 13 -18 cents per kilowatt hr. If you like, you can calculate this on your own using a website site such as this one:
Electricity Cost Calculator

You will need to know how much you are paying currently per kilowatt in your area along with the wattage of the specific sauna.

Electrical specifications may be found either on your sales order or on the Clearlight website under each sauna model’s page or from the "Manuals & Spec Sheets" section below.

How do I register my warranty?

Once your sauna has shipped out, you are automatically registered for warranty service. No other action is needed. For future reference, please make sure to retain your Sales Order (SO) Number.

Where is my sauna’s serial number?

Your sauna’s serial number is found on a label on the underside of the access panel door where the power cord comes out of the unit.

Can I put my indoor sauna outside?

Yes, all Clearlight Infrared Sauna™ Models can be used outside with our optional water proof cover. Because we use high-pressure bindings and precision hand craftsmanship, our sauna cabinetry can endure outdoor humidity and dryness as long as you protect it with our waterproof cover.
Infrared saunas are designed to heat the human body, not the air. Only about 20% of the heat from our heaters goes to heat the air. Because of this, if you live in a place where the temperature gets below 40° F, we don’t recommend putting the sauna outside. It will take much longer for the cabin to warm up and it will not get as hot. Please consult one of our infrared sauna specialists for more information about putting your sauna outside.

Can I get my sauna professionally installed?

We do not assemble or install directly however, we do have a contracted company called the 153 Install Group.

You may reach out to them directly and and schedule online with our exclusive authorized installer in North America.

Why is there a gap between the hinges?

The gap between the glass on the hinged side of the door is normal and is necessary to allow proper clearance for the hinges to open/close. While this does allow a small amount of heat to escape, it will not affect the overall performance of the sauna.

What should be the ambient temperature for optimal heating?

The ideal way to use any infrared sauna is to have the infrared heaters on the entire time producing the optimal infrared heat you desire.
Infrared heat is most effective at lower temperatures as sweat oils secrete at lower temperatures and this sweat is different than water sweat. Your Clearlight Infrared Sauna™ is designed to heat your body more so than to heat the cabin (about 80% of the heat heats your body and 20% of the heat heats the sauna cabin). The following is our recommendation for use of your sauna:

1) Turn your sauna on and warm it up for about 10-15 minutes. The True Wave™ heaters in your sauna will reach their optimal operating temperature in this amount of time.

2) After this short warm up time, get in the sauna and turn the thermostat up very high to ensure the heaters stay on continuously during your session. Generally, your infrared sauna session will range in temperature between 100 – 125°F.

3) Sit back and enjoy your sauna session. Since the key to infrared therapy is heating your body core, you will find that you sweat more sitting up in the sauna with your back lined up with the back wall heaters heating your body core from the back. This positions you in such a way that the front wall heaters will be heating your front body core.

4) During your session the temperature will slowly climb inside the sauna cabin. Remember, your Clearlight Infrared Sauna is heating your body more so than heating the air.

5) Stay Well Hydrated. We emphasize this because it is essential to stay well hydrated when using your sauna. It is estimated that 70% of people are dehydrated. When you are dehydrated, your body holds on to water and will not allow you to sweat very much. It is recommended to drink water before you get in the sauna and bring a quart of water into the sauna with you and drink it during your session.

Don’t be fooled by other manufacturers that offer constant infrared heat by reducing the output of their heaters. At the reduced output you are not receiving optimal infrared heat.

TROUBLESHOOTING QUESTIONS

Why doesn’t my sauna get to maximum temperature?

Your Clearlight Infrared sauna is best used between the optimal infrared range of 115°F and 135°F. Infrared therapy is intended to target your body directly with the infrared waves, rather than just heating the air around you. This allows the sauna to perform, and provide its benefits, at lower temperatures. Although the sauna can be set all the way up to 175°F (or 158°F on some models), it will not reach this temperature. We allow the temperature to be set much higher than the sauna will reach as a means to allow the heaters to remain on and active throughout the entire duration the sauna is in use. Otherwise, the heaters will shut off as soon as the set temperature is reached.
As long as all the heaters are warming and active, the sauna should be performing optimally.

I'm getting a C5 error on my keypad's display.

The 'C5' error code indicates that the sauna's smoke detector has been triggered. If you are using the Halo One in tandem with your sauna, the salt particles can trip the sauna's smoke detector. You may temporarily disable the smoke detector to prevent this from occuring by using the steps below:

  • Press and hold the power button to clear the C5 error.
  • Turn the sauna on then press the AUX button 3 times
  • The screen will show “COFF” for 2 seconds.

(This will turn OFF the smoke detector for the duration of that sauna session)
PLEASE NOTE: The NEXT time the sauna is turned on, it will turn the smoke detector back on.

If you are not using the Halo One and suspect there may be smoke present in the sauna, please shut off and unplug the sauna immediately as a precaution and contact our service department at 800-798-1779 x3

My Upgrade Door Heater or Red Light Tower is not working.

The auxiliary outlet in your sauna requires a special activation sequence to be performed prior to it functioning. Here are the steps to activate the auxiliary outlet:

  • Power the sauna ON
  • Press the F/C button to convert your display to CELSIUS
  • Set the temperature as indicated below:
    • Upgrade FS Door Heater - 60°C
    • Red Light Tower - 50°C

  • Press and hold the AUX button ~5 seconds.

Once the above steps have been performed, you may return your sauna to your desired settings. Please note that the activation will be reset anytime the sauna loses power (unplugged, shut off or tripped breaker, power outage, etc.) and will require reactivation.

redlight-therapy

FAQs

GENERAL QUESTIONS

My Red Light Therapy Core unit works in the wall outlet, but not in the sauna.

After installing the RLT Core unit into your sauna, there will be an activation sequence required.
For Residential use, please follow these steps:
1. Plug the tower into the available plug inside your sauna, typically located on the floor near the
sauna’s front or on the inside front wall.
2. Power on the sauna.
3. Change the temperature display to Celsius by using the F/C button.
4. Set the temperature to 50 degrees Celsius.
5. Press and hold the AUX button for 5 seconds.
6. The outlet will now remain permanently on.
For alternative activation codes and additional information, please see the manual HERE

Some of the lights on my Red Light unit are no longer working?

The Red Light Therapy unit's LED arrays are half comprised of red light LED’s and half near infrared LED’s. The near-infrared LED's do not emit any visible light, as the light's wavelength is outside of the spectrum of visible light detectable by the human eye. Therefore, only half of the LED's will appear to be lit.

Why do I have to activate my Red Light Therapy Core each time I turn on the sauna?

To allow your RLT to operate without frequent reactivation, please use the "Residential" activation listed below:
1. Power on the sauna.
3. Change the temperature display to Celsius by using the F/C button.
4. Set the temperature to 50 degrees Celsius.
5. Press and hold the AUX button for 5 seconds.

**If you are using your RLT commercially and want to have the ability to control when the red light is used by your customer, please use 40°C instead of 50°C during step 4. This will activate the auxiliary outlet for 30 minutes, however you will need to activate the light with each use.**

Please note that the activation will be reset any time the sauna loses power (power outage, tripped breaker, unplugged, etc.) and in the event of a power loss, the activation must be performed once again.

Can I override the RLT timer to manually control the session?

Yes, the timer can be overridden to allow the RLT to operate for longer durations, or for smart-home integration systems (such as smart outlets).
RLT Timer override: Hold the '5' and '30' buttons simultaneously, then press the Play/Pause button.

Can I use my RLT inside the sauna?

The Red Light CORE Tower can be mounted inside your sauna and used in applications where ambient temperature does not exceed 145°F/63°C.
The PERSONAL and FULL BODY towers cannot be mounted inside the sauna, but may be used inside the sauna using a RLT stand and an external power source.
For more information on combining infrared and red light therapy, see HERE

What wavelength does the red light tower produce?

Clearlight® Red Light Therapy devices are comprised of red light LED’s in the 650 nm range and near infrared LED’s in the 850 nm range. For more information, see HERE

My RLT session ended and the RLT turned off, but the fan is still running. Is this normal?

Yes, this is completely normal. Your Clearlight® Red Light Therapy device has an internal cooling fan - After turning off, the fan may run up to 5 minutes for cooling.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Do I have to buy the refills separately?

Are there any side effects to salt therapy?

There are typically no side effects other than the taste of salt and potentially thirst or a scratchy throat. However, if someone is on any medications or suffers from any serious medical issue please seek medical advice before any therapy.

When should halotherapy be avoided (contraindications)?

Halotherapy is a natural therapy however any clients who have any serious health conditions or women who are pregnant should always seek proper medical advice before using the HALOONE®.

Contraindications include:

  • Infections associated with a fever
  • Respiratory system cancers
  • Tuberculosis
  • Cardiac disease patients
  • Acute respiratory disease
  • Severe hypertension
  • Chronic obstructive lung diseases

What kind of salt is used?

99.99% pure sodium chloride (Pharmaceutical grade salt). It contains no fillers or caking agents. It comes from a natural source and it is naturally processed to remove all of its impure elements. It is the same salt that hospitals use and is the same type of salt used in Halotherapy research.

How was salt therapy discovered?

20 million years ago Eastern Europe was partially covered by a shallow sea. With the disappearance of the sea, large amounts of layered salt were left behind. In the 14th century people started to mine salt for their own use and for sale. Large salt mines were developed in the south of Poland near Krakow leaving huge chambers deep in the mountains. Over time, it was discovered that salt miners, as a result of working in the salt mines, had very few respiratory conditions, looked much younger than their age and rarely got sick.

How long has salt therapy been used?

In the 1840s, a Polish doctor named Feliks Boczkowski noticed something interesting while treating workers in the Wieleczka Salt Mines. Unlike other miners who routinely experienced lung problems from breathing in the pollutants in the mines, he found that patients rarely had respiratory issues. Boczkowski attributed this to the high salt content in the cave’s microclimate and he published a treatise detailing his theories in 1843. Several years later one of his pupils opened the first salt inhalation clinic in Poland.
This was not the first-time people had drawn the connection between salt content in the air and improved respiratory health. Catholic monks in Europe regularly brought people with respiratory issues into salt caves and then crushed the salt with their feet to release it into the air. Salt therapy was also used in the days of ancient Greece and Rome.

Is there research to support salt therapy?

Yes! More information about halotherapy/salt therapy can be found through the following sites:

TROUBLESHOOTING QUESTIONS

I pushed the refill into the tray and now it is stuck. How do I fix it?

Carefully wiggle the refill cartridge out of the tray. Once the refill is out of the tray, please check that you are placing the refill on its side and then into the tray. The foiled top must face the side opening of the tray to supply HALOONE® with the medical-grade saline solution.

I was told that I may taste salt in the air while HALOONE® was operating. I can see mist but, why can I not taste it.

The two vibrating mesh outlets which allow the mist to come out of the unit may be partially clogged. Please refer to the videos in the "How-To Guides" section below to see how to unclog the outlet. Take a dampened Q-Tip and gently push and rotate it in a circular motion to loosen any debris. Upon cleaning the unit, you should then be able to receive the full list of health benefits.
